Upper Falls : Near the 10 foot ladder 0.8 miles from Pantoll Station
A log being shaped by forces of nature
Stream running next to the Steep Ravine Trail
The trail is thickly wooded. Ferns flourish in the canopy of redwood trees. Soothing sound of the water running in the stream adjacent to the trail keeps the hike pleasant.
We had to negotiate a 10 feet long ladder. There is a pretty waterfall next to it. The lower falls are about 0.2 miles downstream from here.
A view of Stinson Beach. After 1.6 miles (about 0.8 miles after climbing down the ladder), one arrives at junction of Steep Ravine and Dipsea trails. Another 1 mile hike on the Dipsea trail leads one to the beach.
Steep Ravine Trail is located just north of San Francisco in Mount Tamalpias State Park.

Distance : 1.6 miles x 2 : From Pantoll Ranger Station to Dipsea trail and back
Time : 3 hours with many breaks for taking pictures
